Kumite Jutsu
Rokkyu (Purple Belt)

1.) Bearhug (Pinned in front). (A1-2,B).
A1.) Hands in front. Step back with right to ball of foot; thrust hips back, double thumbs to groin; right rising knee to groin, lift elbows up; step forward 45° right with right to outside of his left foot, circle right forearm counter clockwise outside his left arm, place right inside forearm against left upper arm point; left hand grasps our right hand, pull in tight against his left arm; cross back in advance with left, pivot, bring right elbow up, corkscrew down to right kneeling, pull right fist to ground with left; adjust to pin.
A2.) Hands in back. Head butt; bite, spit; finish like ‘A1’.
B.) Intercept. Step forward 45° left with left, catch right wrist with right, twist his arm, place right wrist, thumb down, on left side of our neck; cross back in advance with right, circle left arm over his right outside elbow, pivot, kneel with left; left arm continues to ground for takedown.

2.) Purple Matwork. (AB1-4,CD1-3). Falling defenses.
A.) Forward shoulder roll to fighting stance.
B1.) Hop 45° left forward with left to side crane; right side kick to right knee; plant towards opponent in fighting stance, right side elbow, left palm heel to head; grab jaw with right, back of head with left, twist clockwise to break; right knife hand (palm up) to throat or philtrum – or – choke out after side elbow strike.
B2.) Left foot forward. Hop forward 45° left with left to front crane; left inward parry, right hand on hip, right front snap kick to knee; plant forward between his legs; pivot to fighting stance, right reverse knife hand to groin; push upper body down with left, right dropping elbow to spine.
B3.) Hop forward 45° left with left, hands in guard position, right round house kick to body; plant towards opponent, left spinning heel or back kick to body.
B4.) Same as ‘B3’ except; plant right foot off line (forward left 45º) to crane, left round house kick to kidney.
C.) Back roll to fighting stance.
D1.) Stepping over. Drop under and side kick to groin (Cv-1).
D2.) Right leg forward Drop under, left side down; scissors kick (right heel to outside right knee, left ankle to inside right ankle) his right leg; tuck his right foot into lap, roll over on top, our right knee and toes on floor with right shin in crook of his right knee, left leg straddling him to the left side and straight. Lean forward for pain.
D3.) Right leg forward Drop under, left side down; same time: right side kick to right knee, left lift kick to right Achilles tendon; pop up, right shoulder roll along right side of body to left kneeling stance, right punch or four finger eye shot to face.

3.) Circles of China. (A1-2,B1-2,C1-2,DE). Right wrist grab (left arm).
A1.) Circle right arm counter clockwise catching his wrist with right hand tiger mouth, at the top of the circle grab his left lower forearm with left; as you complete the circle, step forward with right to fighting stance, right elbow to ribs, left hand on wrist.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’; at the top throw his left arm down; right knife hand to throat or philtrum, left hand to guard.
B1.) Resists. As he pulls his arm down; reverse motion, swing his arm clockwise; catch with left while passing bottom of swing, pull up with left; finish like ‘A1’.
B2.) Rotate right hand clockwise and pull to chest; step forward with right to fighting stance, finish like ‘A2’.
C1.) Can’t circle right or left. Lift his left arm over head with right tiger mouth to left wrist, step forward with right, left tiger mouth to throat; pivot to fighting stance, right dropping elbow to left pectoral muscle, left to guard.
C2.) Step forward 45º right with right, lift right arm to solar plexus level; place left hand on outside of right wrist, counter grab his left outside wrist; twist right hand counter clockwise to free; cross back in advance with left, right back knuckle to philtrum; place right vertical forearm on his left elbow; pivot 180º to bow, break elbow or take down.
D.) Can’t move. Step forward with right to fighting stance; bend right wrist to crane, right side elbow to his left arm to free ours, left hand to guard; hammer fist groin with the right; catch his left forearm with the left and pull down, punch face with right; take down.
E.) Start as ‘A1’; catch left forearm with left, push right wrist against his left thumb; step forward to take down.

4. Sleeves of China. (A1-4,B1-2,C1-2,DEF). Two hand shoulder grab (behind).
A1.) Step forward 45° right with left, pin his right hand to right shoulder with left; pivot to fighting stance, 45° right dropping elbow, to right elbow - breaking.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’; knock right arm down, shuffle forward right rising palm heel to jaw, chop, back knuckle or tiger claw.
A3.) Same as ‘A2’ except; hands block face; pivot to dropping stance, right hammer fist to groin.
A4.) Start as ‘A1’, shuffle forward right rising palm heel to jaw, continue circle to tiger claw to groin, grab and pull; pivot right to bow, left uppercut to right floating ribs, right tiger fist or tiger mouth to throat.
B1.) Step forward 45° right with left; pivot to fighting stance, circle right elbow overhead pinning his right or both arms, left hand in guard; right tiger fist to throat, reverse knife hand to side of neck, or palm heel to St5.
B2.) Start as ‘B1’, right palm heel to chin, continue motion, circle to tiger claw to groin; grab and pull; catch head with left, right side elbow to head.
C1.) Step back 45° right with left, pivot to fighting stance, left outward twist strike to arms, right punch body; grab his left wrist with left, cross over in advance with right, pivot to naihanchi, trip him, pull your left hand to hip, break his left elbow with right vertical forearm.
C2.) Closer. Start as ‘C1’ except; right elbow strike to ribcage.
D.) Step back with right to fighting stance; circle right arm overhead knocking his arms free; right four fingertip strike groin; shuffle forward, right side elbow to head, right high rear supported elbow to face, shuffle again if necessary. Bends over: circle right arm 360° and hammer fist back of neck.
E.) Step back with right to fighting stance; circle right arm over and between his arms, catch his right forearm in right armpit, step forward 45° left with left, place left forearm against his upper right arm, our right fist on our left inside forearm; cross back with right; pivot and kneel with left.
F.) Step back with right to fighting stance; lift right arm between his arms, over his right forearm, grab his right fingers and bend them back with left hand, step forward 45° left with left, pull down and in left with right forearm, push forward and down right with left hand, to “Kenpo lock”; cross back with right; pivot and left kneel.

5. Bearhug (Pinned in back). (A1-2,BC1-2,D1-2,E1-2,FG).
A1.) Step left to naihanchi, left hand on his arms, kata punch forward with right, arms release, pivot 90° right, right low rear elbow to solar plexus, right hammer fist to groin right back knuckle to face.
A2.) Same as ‘A1’; arms don’t release. Twist shoulders hard with elbow strike, left four finger eye shot.
B.) Arms behind. Step to right with right, left hand grabs groin, pull up; crescent step behind his right leg with left to naihanchi; left back rising elbow to chin; shift left to bow, right hammer fist to heart, press down with left elbow, tripping him over left leg.
C1.) Feet off the ground. Shrug shoulders, punch both arms forward and up until pop out of grip; chin to chest, squat and bend over, catch back of his left foot; pull up on foot, sit on knee until he falls; hold left foot, right rear kick groin, spin 360° left with right thigh to side of left foot (break left knee).
C2.) Same as ‘C1’ until break; pull right foot up to figure four; sit down on left knee, right leg crossed under his left leg; rock back, pull left foot to chest to break; roll off quickly.
D1.) Before grab. Lift elbows up and out intercepting his arms, step forward with left to cat stance, circle both forearms over his, crane hook wrists, pull into chest; rotate head counter clockwise, (swivel hips clockwise), under his left arm; right arm brings his right arm to his left arm pit; release, place our right arm on back of his left triceps, circle his left arm with left, left fist push against right forearm; step back with left; pivot left, kneel with right.
D2.) Tall. Start as ‘D1’; step forward 45° right with right to Seisan, bend forward and twist upper body so right elbow points down; twist back right, right rear elbow to solar plexus; rotate under left arm as in ‘D1’, keep circling right arm down to hip, sweep his foot (if possible) with the right as it moves to the rear to kneeling stance.
E1.) Pinned low (hands in back). Step right to naihanchi, left palm heel grab groin; pull up and crescent step around right foot with left, bend left knee into his right knee, bend left elbow back and down into his chest while lifting as he falls; twist body to left and right reverse hammer fist to groin; reverse, lift right leg and stomp head. If not loosening - don’t throw: left back rising elbow to chin and right hammer fist to heart.
E2.) Pinned low (hands in front). Pull both arms straight up and free; both elbows strike to biceps, punch both down to pin his arms; step forward with left, pivot counter clockwise to bow, right rear elbow to right side head; left foot back; repeat to other side; left hand continue to left hip, right palm to left side of head; shift to fighting stance, left uppercut to solar plexus, right hand guard; shift to bow, right rising knee to groin, left hand guard, right hand circling under his left arm; step forward 45° right with right to outside of his left foot, circle right forearm counter clockwise outside his left arm, place right inside forearm against left upper arm point; left hand grasps our right hand, pull in tight against his left arm; cross back in advance with left, pivot, bring right elbow up, corkscrew down to right kneeling, pull right fist to ground with left; adjust to pin.
F.) Pinned at elbows. Step left to naihanchi; same time: start “Bearhug (Fib) ‘B’”, right heel to left knee, right side kick to right knee, stomp down right shin to right instep, finish like (adjust grip) “Bearhug (Fib) ‘B’”.
G.) Intercept. Drop to naihanchi, double outward parry to palms, step forward 45° right with left, cross catch right fingers with left, circle right knife hand 360° around his right wrist, maintain hand positions rotate his right arm to “Kenpo lock” cross back with right, pivot, elbows tight to side, kneel with left.
