Kumite Jutsu
Nanakyu (Orange Belt)

1.) Kimono Grab. (A1-3BCDE). Two hand grab from the front.
A1.) Arms straight. Pin hands with left, step back with left to fighting stance, strike up with right palm heel above his left elbow (Tw-10); circle counter clockwise around and over his arms, 45° strike with right forearm to his left radial nerve, elbow drops allowing forearm to strike and sweep aside both arms; continue motion to stomach; left hand to guard, right 45° knife hand to throat; right hand sweeps counter clockwise clearing the center, shuffle forward, catch head with left, right arm motion continues to right side elbow to left side of head; left hand to guard, pivot right leg to dropping stance, right hammer fist to groin, right side kick to knee, guards up.
A2.) Arms don’t release. Start as ‘A1’; arms bend at strike; left four finger eye shot, right back knuckle to Tw-17; hands trap his arms, right side kick to knee; plant forward.
A3.) Start as ‘A2’; lean forward, circle clockwise and catch his head with the left, right side elbow to the left side of his head; lean backwards; hands trap his arms, right side kick to knee; plant forward.
B.) Arms straight. Step forward with right, double punch: left to face and right to solar plexus; right foot back to cat, left horizontal descending forearm twist strike to radial nerves; right front snap kick to groin; plant forward, right knife hand thrust (palm up) to throat, left pressing down on his arms.
C.) Arms bent. Circle right arm counter clockwise, pin his left hand, bending wrist, to right side of chest; same time: left 45° rising outward knife hand to crook of his right arm, pull his bent left wrist with right, rising right knee to hip; lift elbows up; step forward 45° right with right to outside of his left foot, circle right forearm counter clockwise outside his left arm, place right inside forearm against left upper arm point; left hand grasps our right hand, pull in tight against his left arm; cross back in advance with left, pivot, bring right elbow up, corkscrew down to right kneeling, pull right fist to ground with left; adjust to pin.
D.) Step forward with right to cat; cross grab his wrists, (right inside), pull his arms together right underneath; release his right arm and re-grab his left hand, twist it to side wrist lock; cross back in advance 45° right with left; pivot, bring right elbow to his left elbow; apply lock and elbow pressure, drop, kneeling with right.
E.) Palms down. Reach over arms with right and catch top of his right hand, pin to chest, left hand comes over top of his right arm, between both, under left hand and up, palm out; cross back forward 45° right with left, pivot bring right elbow up against our left hand on his left outside forearm; twist left hand and grab his left outside wrist, right elbow on his left elbow (pull his shoulder forward if he is strong to weaken him), take down; kneel with right.

2.) The Art of War. Set II. (A1-5,B1-2,C1-2,D1-3). Right or Left punch.
A1.) Right. Step forward with right; same time: pivot to fighting stance, left brushing or outward reverse knife hand blocking strike to his right forearm, right side elbow to head; shift forward to neutral bow, right back knuckle to his head, left tiger claw to face; shuffle forward, right shoulder punch to jaw.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’ except; uppercut to body; finish like “Set 1 ‘A3’”.
A3.) Start as ‘A1’ right four finger eye shot; pivot forward to bow, left punch solar plexus, right outward extended blocking strike to guard; left outward twisting parry counter grab his right arm, Naihanchi step over with right to outside his right leg, right tiger mouth to throat; pivot 180° to bow, pull right arm down with left, throw to ground and pull right arm up..
A4.) Start as ‘A1’ except; tiger claw grab to groin; pivot forward to bow, left punch to face, right pull out groin; pivot to fighting stance; right palm to chin, left hand to guard.
A5.) Start as ‘A1’ except; back hand slap to groin; pivot forward to bow, left side elbow to right side head; pivot to fighting stance; left knife hand to left side of his neck, right tiger mouth to throat.
B1.) Left. Same time: right front snap kick to left leg, right brushing parry, left four finger eye shot; step forward with right, pivot to fighting stance, right knife hand to left side neck.
B2.) Same as ‘B1’ except; right brushing parry counter grab, left four finger eye shot; plant forward with right, pivot to fighting stance, right knife hand thrust (palm up) to throat, left hand to guard.
C1.) Step forward with left to fighting stance, right brushing parry, left uppercut to body; pivot forward to neutral bow stance, right uppercut to body; shift back to reverse neutral bow, left tiger’s mouth to throat, right to guard; shift (or step forward) to neutral bow, right shoulder punch to head.
C2.) Start as ‘C1’ except; left reverse knife hand, back hand slap, or tiger claw to groin.
D1.) Right shoulder grab with left. Brush right forearm down his inside left arm; bend his left wrist, pull him forward and off balance, right naihanchi kick, left palm heel to chin; right punch cheek line.
D2.) Right shoulder grab with left and right punch. Same as ‘D1’ except; blocking strike right arm with left knife hand or palm heel; counter grab with left, step forward, right elbow to head.
D3.) Right shoulder grab with left and right punch. Step forward with left to fighting stance, left palm heel to jaw, right as in ‘D1’; shift forward to bow, right tiger fist to throat, left hand to guard.
D4.) Right shoulder grab with left and right punch. Both tiger mouths catch his left wrist, right front kick to his right inside thigh, twist his left hand counter clockwise, thumb down, elbow up, to side wrist lock, right elbow on his left elbow; swing right leg to the left, parallel to ground; drop straight down to ground, apply pressure to lock and his left elbow, rocking chest; pin arm or break elbow.

3.) Inward Outward Defense. (A1-3,B1-2,C1-3). Right push, punch, or grab.
A1.) Step forward with right, right inward brushing parry, left outward brushing parry, knife hand strike to right side of his neck; step forward with left to knee to knee stance, left punch to face, right hand to guard; step forward with right, pivot to fighting stance, right punch to face.
A2.) Same as ‘A1’ except; right punch to face (main response).
A3.) Same as ‘A1’ except; right tiger claw to face; left palm heel to face, right circles counterclockwise; left catches head, right side elbow to head.
B1.) Pivot 45° right on the left foot, right foot to cat; left inward brushing parry, right outward downward parry, left inward parry and pin his arm to side, right punch to face; maintain pin with left, slide right hand down and catch his right wrist cross back left with right; pivot 180° to bow, break his elbow.
B2.) Same as ‘B1’ except; right tiger fist to neck (St-9).
C1.) Start as ‘B1’ (or step forward with left) except; left forearm to his right elbow, slide right hand down and catch his right wrist; cross back, left with right; pivot to bow and arrow stance, pull with right and push with the left to break elbow; pull right arm forward with right, reverse motion, left back knuckle/hammer fist right ribs (Liv-13); pivot left 180° to half bow, grab right shoulder with left, circle right arm counter clockwise, right hammer fist/forearm to back of neck (Gb-20).
C2.) Same as ‘C1’ until break; crane hook crook of his right elbow with left, pivot 180° to bow and arrow, right side elbow/forearm to head/neck.
C3.) Start as ‘C1’; after left forearm, cross back, to the left, with right, slide left hand to his right wrist; maintain grip with left, step back with the left; pivot to fighting stance, pull with the left, right punch to right mastoid process.

4.) Bearhug (Free in back). (A1-2,BC).
A1.) Right hand on top. Right reverse hammer fist, left reverse hammer fist to back of right hand; slip right-left hand, palms up, under his right hand (thumbs on first two knuckles); step forward 45°right with left, cross back in advance with right, pivot to fighting stance; twist right hand to Ikkyo, apply pressure, bend him forward, right Thai kick to face.
A2.) Ikkyo doesn’t work. Pull right hand past right hip, right front snap kick to knee; plant forward with right, pivot to fighting stance, left hand on top of his right arm, right stiff arm back knuckle to face; circle right arm 360° counter clockwise, drop into low horse, dropping elbow to spine.
B.) Fingers interlaced. Pry right finger free, pull back on right finger until grip unlocks; pull right hand to right side, pull left hand to left side; throw left hand down, reach over with left and grab right palm; step forward 45º right with left, cross back with right; pivot, (allow his right arm to slide under left elbow), corkscrew down, left forearm over his right forearm, maintain right grip on his right hand finger, kneel with left.
C.) Intercept. Double outward parry against his palms; as they come together, cross grab his right fingers with left, left fingers with right; squeeze fingers together and twist so they point down, thumbs on back of his hands apply pressure so he rises to the balls of his feet; throw his left hand down with right; return right knife hand to our left inside forearm, step forward 45º right with left, allow right arm to slide under our left elbow, maintain arm positions, rotate his arm to “Kenpo lock”, cross back with right, pivot, elbows tight to side, kneel with left.

5.) Encircling Arms. Set I. (A1-4,B1-3,C). Headlong tackle.
A1.) Step back with left, raise right arm overhead, left palm heel to top of his head; guide in with left, pivot to fighting stance, right hammer fist to back of neck.
A2.) Step back with left, drop left hand and raise right hand; pivot to fighting stance, left rising palm heel strike right side of jaw (twisting his head to left side up), right dropping palm heel to the left mastoid process.
A3.)Step back with left, grab jaw with right, top of head with left; pivot to fighting stance, twist head reversing grips; if tries to counter: stop twist and hold still.
A4.) Head up. Step back with left, grab right side of head with left; pivot to fighting stance, right side elbow left side head.
B1.) Step back with left, catch: back of neck with right gouging thumb, throat with left gouging thumb; pull head to left side hip, left rising knee to solar plexus; step back with left, pivot, kneel with right; right gouging thumb to Tw-17 point, hold right side of head with left palm, move left hand before slamming head into ground.
B2.) Step back with left, swing right arm behind body, left hand on top of head; pivot to fighting stance, right forearm strike to body, tuck head into crook of right arm (chin pointing right, top of head on right hip), grab right hand with left, squat to low naihanchi, pull up and in twisting with right inside forearm, lift right hip to break neck.
B3.) Step back with right, double palm heel strike to top of head; grab sides of head, pull face down to right rising knee kick, right front snap kick to groin; plant forward to fighting stance and right dropping elbow to spine.
C.) Penetrates. Step back with left, left hand on head, lift right arm over head; pivot and drop to low fighting stance, right dropping elbow to spine; lift up, drop and pivot to dropping stance, right hammer fist to kidney.
